Ring of Steall - Mamores - £70 per person
4 munros - 17km - 1676m ascent - 9-11 hours
The Ring of Steall is a real classic mountain route combining the traverse of four Munros with scrambling along narrow, rocky aretes. The route takes in An Gearanach, Stob Choire a Chàirn, Am Bodach and then follows the Devils Ridge to Sgùrr a'Mhaim.
What the day includes -
We will meet at 6.30am we will car share down to the end of Glen Nevis and will start our day with a walk into the steall falls. Most cross the wire bridge here but we will be taking a quicker option of a river crossing ( if the water low enough ) from here we have a steep pull up on a good path to the first Munro of the day, An Gearanach. Heading off the summit requires care moving over the steep and rocky terrain.
Dropping down to the Bealach and pushing onto our second summit, Stob Choire a Chairn. After a quick break we will push on again dropping down and reascending up Am Bodach.
Next onto the devils ridge , starting with a grassy arete which leads you to a rocky section which can be troublesome. The bypass will be used if conditions don’t allow. After a short down scramble the technical terrain is behind us.
A final push to reach our fourth and final munro of the day, Sgurr a mhaim.
Looking back around this spectacular circuit and the ground you have covered whilst enjoying a good break and well deserved rest.
A steep descent still awaits us so heading off we will take our time dropping back down to Glen Nevis to retrieve the cars and shuffle the morning drivers back down the Glen.
Please note - we may do route in opposite direction.
This event is for those a good level of fitness and previous hiking experience as we will be out for the duration of the day.
