Womens Hill skills Weekend - £140
2 days and 1 night accommodation
Join us for a woman only hill skills weekend where we will be covering lots of navigation whilst taking in a munro along with an over night stay at a mountain hut. This event is ideal if you have done an introduction to navigation course and are looking to get out to practice your skills, gain more and build confidence.
What’s included
Day 1 - we will meet in the morning and get straight on to brushing up our current navigation skills, even if it’s been a few years since you’ve done a course and feel a bit rusty! Getting the basics up to scratch ( measuring distance, timings & bearings ) before heading out.
This day will be all about honing in on your skill set, practicing your navigation methods as we head out for a short hike on one of the local hills.
We will cover the basic navigation legs , slope aspect, contour interpretations, relocation methods and lots more.
In the afternoon we will make our way back to the car park and grab our overnight bag to head into the mountain hut for the evening.
After dinner the evening will be yours to chill out and enjoy then peaceful surroundings of the little mountain hut.
Day 2 - An earlier start today as we need to pack up before heading out ( over night kit will be left at the mountain hut throughout day and collected on return ). We will be putting our skills to the test and navigating our way up and over Stob a Choire Odhair. This day is all about building confidence and using all your skills you practiced the day before.
Once off the hill we will head back to the mountain hut to gather the rest of our kit and then a short walk back to the car park.
Throughout the weekend we will cover additional hill skills from calling to help, leaving a report card, digital navigation pros & cons , know your team and lots more.
Please note - the accommodation is a small basic mountain hut with no running water or toilet. There is a fire and gas for lighting and cooking.
You will need to bring all our own food ( breakfast , lunch x2 , dinner and snacks ) required for this event. There is a river close by for a water source. You will also need to bring your own sleeping bag / mat. - if you want more info on this please email wildventurescotland@gmail.com
You must have a good level of fitness for this event as we will be out hill walking for two days over rough , steep terrain.
